Hey folks. Brawl Stars Season 53, also known as the Windstock update, is officially live. Serving as the second half of the Ramen Rebellion arc, this season is sticking around until September 3, 2026. It brings massive gameplay shifts, a brand-new support brawler who acts as the ultimate team shield, and a hefty wave of balance changes that completely reshuffled the current meta.

If you are wondering what exactly changes when you queue up today, here is everything you need to know directly, without the fluff.

New Brawler Wendy: Abilities and how to unlock

The roster is expanding again with brawler number 106. Wendy is a Mythic support character entirely dedicated to keeping her team alive. Playing her comes with a huge trade-off: she has the lowest base health in the entire game, sitting around 4,000 HP, but makes up for it with game-changing defensive tools.

Her main attack deals about 2,400 damage to enemies or grants a 2,000 HP shield to an ally. Her Super is where she really shines, dropping a shield generator that absorbs a massive 75% of incoming damage for her team while they stand inside the radius. Plus, she comes with a unique passive trait that lets her walk on water.

The best part? Wendy can be unlocked entirely for free during her release event. Just play the game, gather Wendy Boxes, and once you hit 14 boxes, she is yours guaranteed. After the event wraps up, she will move to the Starr Road for standard Credit unlocks.

New Fusions system and Smoothie Drops

Say goodbye to last season's NanoPowers. Season 53 introduces Fusions, a brand-new seasonal mechanic that removes the mid-fight manual selection. There are 106 Fusions in total, broken down into three for each brawler across various rarities.

The core of this system is that at the start of every match, the game auto-combines two random Fusions from your unlocked pool. You unlock these by opening the new Smoothie Drops. Because you can't pick your active effects on the fly anymore, the smartest play this season is to grind drops early. By unlocking all three Fusions for your main brawlers, you ensure that every random auto-combine roll actually helps you in the arena.

August 2026 balance changes: Nerfs and buffs

The maintenance patch that dropped alongside this update was incredibly nerf-heavy. The meta we've known for the past couple of months just took a big hit, stripping base power and utility from several top-tier picks.

Brawl Stars August Balance

The most noticeable nerfs hit Crow, dropping his main attack from 380 to 320 and reducing his Slowing Toxin gadget damage from 800 to 600. Damian also got gutted: his base punch and explosion damage fell from 1,000 to 800, while his Super's bounce damage was halved and the speaker health dropped from 2,000 to 1,500. Other brawlers catching straight base nerfs include Max (slower Super charge), 8-Bit (gadget cooldown increased to 18 seconds), Griff, Bolt, and Starr Nova (base health lowered to 3,700).

On the flip side, Supercell rolled out several buffs targeting seasonal powers. Players using Belle, Sprout, Bo, and Mortis will notice their alternative abilities got some nice range and utility bumps.

Finally, the developers took the time to squash some lingering bugs. If you regularly lock in Meg or Nori, you'll notice that the weird healing bugs and Super cancellations during dashes have been fully patched out for a smoother competitive experience.

Make the most of these first few weeks of Windstock to grab the free Mythic and unlock your Fusions. Are you struggling to adapt to the Crow and Damian nerfs? Drop your new favorite meta picks in the comments and stay tuned to olagg.io for our upcoming Fusions tier list.
