Double jump.tokyo has announced the creation of SG Verse, a layer 2 (L2) blockchain built on the Oasys platform in collaboration with AltLayer. This new blockchain will support the launch of the web3-based game Battle of Three Kingdoms. The game is based on the well-known SEGA intellectual property, Sangokushi Taisen, a popular arcade game focused on strategy and card-based gameplay. With this initiative, double jump.tokyo aims to push the boundaries of blockchain games by leveraging new technology and enhancing game features.
The SG Verse blockchain was developed using AltLayer technology as part of double jump.tokyo's ongoing commitment to improving blockchain games. SG Verse will serve as the backbone of Battle of Three Kingdoms, enabling a smoother and more immersive gaming experience.
AltLayer, known for its advanced rollup solutions, is a key partner in this collaboration. Their technology supports scalability, fast finality, and interoperability, making it ideal for the needs of web3 games. As part of this project, double jump.tokyo is also introducing an ecosystem token, SG Coin (SGC), which will be essential for in-game purchases and the broader SG Verse ecosystem.
The upcoming game, Battle of Three Kingdoms, represents a reimagined version of the original SEGA series Sangokushi Taisen. Yasuhiro Nishiyama, the creator of the original series, now leads the project under the direction of Sugorocks. The game, set to be released in winter 2024, will feature battles
strategic automatic battles in which players can use NFT cards representing the generals from the original series, as well as new characters created for this release.
With this new title, double jump.tokyo aims to present a unique fusion of traditional strategy-based gameplay and blockchain technology. By integrating NFTs, players will have the ability to own and trade digital assets linked to the game content. The game is being developed on the Oasys blockchain, an eco-friendly network designed for gaming communities. AltLayer in Japan, the company helps national web3 developers create their own blockchain-based solutions using AltLayer's technology.
