Fisch: How to Get Budling and Complete His Quest

Budling is one of the new Companions in Fisch, added on September 12, 2026, alongside a minor game update. Unlike other companions, it cannot be obtained through fishing, purchasing, or trading: players must complete an escort mission in Living Garden.

To unlock it, players must first complete the Living Garden Bestiary to 100% and then find Budling, who travels around the area while carrying a Cyan Seed. The objective is to escort it to the area where it wants to plant the seed without allowing it to touch the water.

How to Get to Living Garden

Living Garden is located after Lost Jungle and Toxic Cave, so players must progress through these areas first.

To access it, the player must complete at least 50% of the Lost Jungle Bestiary, obtain a Gas Mask, and enter Toxic Cave. There, they must talk to Olivia and obtain one of the fish required to progress through the quest. After completing this process, they will gain access to the Toxic-Proof Raft, which is required to cross the area and reach Living Garden.

Once access has been unlocked, the player can return to Living Garden whenever they want to complete the process related to Budling.

Requirement to Unlock Budling

The main requirement to start Budling's quest is to have the Living Garden Bestiary completed to 100%.

This requirement has been confirmed by several guides published following the September 12 update. Therefore, simply reaching Living Garden or finding Budling is not enough: if the area's Bestiary is still incomplete, the escort quest will not be available.

Once the Bestiary is complete, the player must return to Living Garden and look for Budling.

Where to Find Budling

Budling usually appears in the central area of Living Garden, near the Moosewood Mirror. Its initial location is approximately at coordinates (-2430, -316, -2914). However, it does not remain in that exact spot and can move around the surrounding area.

It is easy to recognize due to its appearance as a small sprout with a blue flower on its head. It also carries a Cyan Seed in one of its hands.

When the player finds it after completing the Bestiary, they can interact with Budling to start the quest.

How to Complete Budling's Quest

Budling explains that it wants to plant the Cyan Seed it is carrying. To help it, players must escort it from its starting area to the planting location on the other side of Living Garden.

The recommended route begins by heading approximately toward (-2295, -320, -2991). There, players will find a bridge made from a large leaf that allows them to move toward the central area. They must then continue across another log bridge and follow the stone terrain until reaching the area where Budling can plant the seed.

The main problem during this part is the water.

What Happens if Budling Touches the Water

Budling cannot touch the water during the escort. If it falls or comes into contact with it, the quest resets and Budling returns to the starting point, meaning the entire route must be completed again. This mechanic is also indicated in the game's update announcement.

For this reason, it is advisable to move slowly, use the side bridges, and avoid taking shortcuts through areas with water. It is also recommended to check the route before starting and maintain enough distance to allow Budling to follow the path correctly.

Additionally, some guides indicate that another player cannot simultaneously escort Budling in the same server. If the interaction does not appear, switching servers may solve the problem.

What Happens After Completing the Escort

Once the player successfully reaches the planting area, Budling plants the Cyan Seed and the companion is automatically unlocked. It can then be selected from the Companions system and equipped to use its abilities while playing.

Budling's Abilities in Fisch

Budling has several abilities related to both fishing and the seed system.

One of its features is linked to Perfect Catches. As the player gets perfect catches, Budling's eyes begin to glow and its ability to reduce the chance of obtaining certain unwanted items, such as garbage, crates, bait, and barrels, increases.

It also provides an advantage at night: it allows players to catch fish that normally prefer daytime conditions without suffering the usual penalty associated with nighttime. This can make it easier to find certain Bestiary species.

Its third function is related to seeds. Budling reduces the time required to plant seeds by 50%, which directly affects the time needed to obtain products through the planting system.
