Hey everyone. If you've ever felt the sting of missing out on an exclusive Fortnite outfit because you couldn't finish the pass in time or just started playing the game later on, I have some great news. Epic Games has just broken one of its oldest rules. Starting with the latest update, old Battle Pass skins are officially returning to the Item Shop for anyone to purchase.
This massive shift kicks off with a heavy hitter: the content from the Marvel-themed season, Chapter 5 - Season 4: Absolute Doom, which originally ran from August to November 2024. So, if you consider yourself a collector, get those V-Bucks ready if you missed out on any iconic heroes or villains.

The Absolute Doom season was packed with amazing characters that many players assumed they would never see in the game again. Now, thanks to this historic policy change, heavyweights like Doctor Doom, Mysterio, Shuri, War Machine, Gwenpool, and Emma Frost can appear in the shop rotation. Plus, the awesome Captain America version of Jonesy is eligible for a comeback.
These characters will now be sold individually (or in bundles) directly in the Item Shop. Obviously, the V-Bucks cost of acquiring them separately will be higher than the roughly $10 the entire Battle Pass cost back in the day. However, it is a fantastic alternative for those who only want a specific character and no longer want to feel the pressure of grinding daily.
For years, the unbreakable promise of Fortnite was that Battle Pass content was strictly limited-time. While this created obvious FOMO (fear of missing out), it ultimately ended up hurting newer players who realized they could never play as iconic characters released years ago.
As detailed on the official Fortnite blog, the developers at Epic Games decided it was time to update the rules. The new policy states that Battle Pass items can be sold in the shop once a minimum of 18 months have passed since the original pass expired. The timer for the most recent Marvel season has just cleared this window, meaning the vault doors are finally opening.
We will definitely have to keep a close eye on the daily shop rotation to see what other gems from the past Epic Games decides to rescue from the vault.
