Fortnite has finally revealed one of the most anticipated figures of its Treasure Hunters season: the actual drop rate of the coveted Pirate Shop Access Token. Epic Games confirmed that this reward has a 1-in-137,500 chance of appearing in a chest during normal matches. However, the developer also announced that Treasure Hours do increase these odds, with a multiplier of up to 2x during the November 7 event. In addition, the next Saturdays when special events are expected are now known.

Fortnite Treasure Hunters: seasonal treasure chest

Since the launch of Fortnite's Treasure Hunters season on November 1, 2026, thousands of players have spent their matches opening chests in hopes of finding Pirate Shop Access, an extraordinary reward that allows them to claim eligible cosmetics without spending V-Bucks during two separate 14-day periods.

During the first few days, Epic Games had not publicly revealed the exact drop rates for this reward, leading to widespread speculation about its rarity and the best strategies for obtaining it.

However, on November 7, 2026, the official Fortnite Status account published the drop rates for rewards found in chests and confirmed that these rates temporarily increase during Treasure Hours.

This revelation completely changes what we knew about these events: there is now official confirmation that Treasure Hours can improve the chances of obtaining the One Piece token.

What Is the Actual Fortnite Token Drop Rate?

Epic Games confirmed that Pirate Shop Access has a 1-in-137,500 chance of appearing in each chest opened during a normal match.

Expressed as a percentage, this is approximately 0.000727% per chest.

Fortnite and One Piece: official collaboration

This confirms that it is one of the hardest rewards to obtain during the season, although it is not the rarest of them all.

The developer also published the drop rates of the other available treasures:

RewardDrop rate per chest
Weekly Golden Outfit1 in 1,562,500
Pirate Shop Access1 in 137,500
Weekly Vehicle and Decal1 in 7,813
Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling1 in 568
Weekly Jam Track1 in 391
Weekly Loading Screen1 in 272
Any Gizmo1 in 127

These figures apply to chests opened during normal matches, without the temporary Treasure Hours multipliers.

Epic Games also clarified that drop rates have remained consistent since the beginning of the season, except during special events.

Additionally, it confirmed that players cannot obtain the same treasure twice, with the exception of Gizmos.

You can check the original figures in the official Fortnite Status post.

Treasure Hours Really Do Increase the Token Drop Rate

One of the most important revelations from the announcement concerns Treasure Hours, special events held on Saturdays throughout the Treasure Hunters season.

Previously, there had been no official confirmation of how much the chances of finding the token could increase. However, Epic Games has now clarified that these events offer temporary multipliers for certain treasures.

During the two sessions held on Saturday, November 7, the Pirate Shop Access drop rate changed as follows:

Match typeMultiplierToken drop rate
Normal match1x1 in 137,500
First session on November 71.5xApprox. 1 in 91,667
Second session on November 72x1 in 68,750

During the first session, held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Mexico City time, the token's drop rate increased by 50% compared with its normal value.

In the second session, held from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the probability doubled, reaching approximately 0.001455% per chest.

This represents a real improvement, but it does not mean that obtaining the token is easy or guaranteed.

The multipliers above apply specifically to the November 7 event. Epic Games warned that larger increases could occur during future Treasure Hours and that it would announce any changes.

What Does a 1-in-137,500 Chance Actually Mean?

Although the number might seem straightforward, there is an important difference between the probability of obtaining a reward and the number of attempts needed to find it.

A 1-in-137,500 chance does not mean the game will automatically award the token after opening 137,500 chests.

Treasure Hunters season exploration area

Every time a chest is opened, there is an individual chance of obtaining the reward.

For example, assuming chest openings behave as independent attempts:

  • 100 normal chests: approximately a 0.073% chance of finding at least one token.
  • 1,000 normal chests: approximately 0.72%.
  • 10,000 normal chests: approximately 7.0%.

These figures are illustrative mathematical calculations based on the probability announced by Epic Games, not additional percentages published by the developer.

This explains why some players may obtain the token after opening only a few chests, while others can spend entire days searching without finding it.

Epic Games has not publicly confirmed any guaranteed reward system that grants the token after a certain number of chests.

The Token Is Not Fortnite's Rarest Reward

Although Pirate Shop Access is one of the season's most sought-after rewards, another prize has an even lower drop rate.

It is the Weekly Golden Outfit, whose usual chance is 1 in 1,562,500 chests.

This makes it approximately eleven times rarer than the Pirate Shop Access Token during normal matches.

However, Epic Games also confirmed significant increases for this Outfit during the November 7 Treasure Hours:

  • First session: a 7.5x multiplier for the Weekly Golden Outfit.
  • Second session: a 10x multiplier for the Weekly Golden Outfit.
  • Weekly Vehicle and Decal: a 10x multiplier during the first session.

Therefore, Treasure Hours do not only increase the chance of finding the token, but also improve the odds of obtaining some of the season's most exclusive cosmetics.

It is important to note that not all rewards necessarily receive the same increase, so players should check the specific conditions for each event.

What Does the Pirate Shop Access Token Do?

Pirate Shop Access is a special reward introduced during the Treasure Hunters season, which features Fortnite's collaboration with One Piece.

By obtaining this token, players unlock the ability to activate two separate 14-day periods during which they can claim eligible items from the Item Shop without spending V-Bucks.

The reward includes:

  • One activation during 2026: allows players to claim eligible cosmetics for 14 days.
  • A second activation during 2027: allows them to use the benefit again for another 14 days.

Items successfully claimed during these periods remain permanently in the player's Locker.

However, the reward has some restrictions. It does not allow gifting items to other players, does not cover bundles sold directly for real money, and does not include Battle Pass level purchases.

Additionally, cosmetics must be available in the Item Shop during the active period to be claimed.

This combination of benefits explains why the token has become one of Fortnite's most coveted rewards.

When Are the Next Fortnite Treasure Hours?

Following the November 7 event, players will have new opportunities to take advantage of Treasure Hours.

In the official Treasure Hunters announcement, Epic Games confirmed that Saturdays will be dedicated to these activities throughout the season.

Fortnite Treasure Hunters pirate-themed environment

Based on that weekly schedule, the next expected event dates are:

Expected dateSchedule status
Saturday, November 14Awaiting confirmation
Saturday, November 21Awaiting confirmation
Saturday, November 28Awaiting confirmation

These dates are based on the Saturday event schedule announced for the season. Epic Games has not yet publicly detailed the times or token multipliers for each of these events.

For reference, the November 7 event had two sessions in Mexico: from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

However, players should not assume that future events will follow exactly the same schedule or offer the same drop rates.

It is also worth remembering that Fortnite announced a special event for Saturday, December 5, connected to the end of the chapter. For now, that announcement should not be confused with a confirmed Treasure Hours event.

What Is the Best Way to Try to Get the Token?

Now that the probabilities have been confirmed, players can make more informed decisions about when to search for the reward.

The most reasonable strategy is to take advantage of Treasure Hours sessions with a confirmed multiplier, since each chest can have a higher chance of containing the token during those periods.

Some other recommendations may also be useful:

  • Open chests during Treasure Hours: if the event includes a token multiplier, each attempt will offer better odds than during a normal match.
  • Explore areas with several chests: this provides more opportunities to obtain a random reward.
  • Play with friends: when one team member finds Pirate Shop Access, other eligible party members may also receive the benefit, according to player reports and season guides.
  • Check official announcements: multipliers could change during upcoming events.

However, none of these recommendations guarantees the reward.

Opening more chests increases the cumulative probability of finding the token, but it does not change the individual probability of each chest outside special events.

There is also no official evidence that playing late at night, changing skins, or using a new account increases the chance of obtaining it.

Fortnite Finally Confirms Its Drop Rates and Opens the Door to New Events

Epic Games' revelation puts an end to one of the biggest questions of the Treasure Hunters season.

We now know that Pirate Shop Access has a normal drop rate of 1 in 137,500 chests, while its chances improved by as much as 2x during the November 7 Treasure Hours.

Although it remains an extremely difficult reward to obtain, players finally have official figures to understand its rarity and the advantages offered by limited-time events.

The next expected events are Saturday, November 14, 21, and 28, although their schedules and multipliers have yet to be confirmed.

Additionally, Epic Games left open the possibility of increasing the odds even further during future events.

The mystery surrounding the token's rarity has finally been solved. Now the big question is whether the next Treasure Hours will offer even better opportunities to find it.
