TBH: Task Bar Hero might look like just another simple idle game running in a tiny window while you work, but it hides a surprisingly deep RPG. Managing your economy, optimizing your formations, and understanding synergies is key if you don't want to get stuck early on.

To ensure your team doesn't get steamrolled by enemy waves, you need to build the best possible combinations. In this guide, we'll explain how classes work, which runes to prioritize, and how to get the most out of your squad to progress quickly. Whether you prefer leaving the game entirely in the background or actively managing the Cube and your inventory, these tips will help you scale through the levels smoothly.

Starting Classes and Recommendations

You start by picking a hero from three free classes: the Knight (frontline tank), the Ranger (fast DPS), and the Sorcerer (AoE magic damage). Also, make sure to claim the Priest immediately; it's a free DLC in the store and arguably the most valuable class in the game thanks to its heals and buffs. The Hunter and Slayer are paid DLC classes—great, but entirely optional.

Understanding Hero Stats

Before diving into builds, you need to know which stats matter most when equipping gear:

• Attack Speed & Cooldown Reduction: The most important DPS stats in the game. Faster attacks and spells mean faster wave clears.
• HP Regeneration: Crucial for your frontline tanks, especially early on before your Priest's healing becomes powerful enough to sustain the party.
• Elemental Damage: Scales incredibly well in the mid-to-late game, specifically for the Sorcerer's screen-clearing abilities.

Best Teams and Builds

Having the right formation is everything. Your absolute first priority is unlocking the extra formation slots to field multiple heroes at once. Here are the most highly recommended team comps:

Knight, Priest, and Ranger

This is the most consistent composition for most players. The Knight absorbs damage on the front lines, the Priest keeps them alive while buffing the party's damage, and the Ranger fires away safely from the back.

• Knight: Focus on Health, Armor, Block Chance, and HP Regeneration.
• Priest: Prioritize Healing Spells, Skill Cooldowns, and Damage Absorption.
• Ranger: Build for Attack Damage, Attack Speed, and Critical Damage.

Priest, Ranger, and Sorcerer

If you want to ditch a traditional tank and maximize your raw damage output, this is an excellent build. The Priest moves to the front to take the hits (you'll need heavy investment in armor and healing for them), while the Ranger and Sorcerer clear the screen incredibly fast.

• Sorcerer: Look for Cooldown Reduction, Cast Speed, and Elemental Damage.

Late Game: The 4-Hero Core

Once you invest heavily into the Rune tree and unlock the fourth slot, combining all four core heroes is the standard meta: Knight, Priest, Ranger, and Sorcerer. The Knight holds the line, the Priest provides sustain, and the DPS units handle the rest.

The Rune System Explained

Runes serve as your permanent upgrade tree. The tree is split into two main paths. The North Branch gives direct combat stats like damage and health. The South Branch is where you want to spend your early gold, as it contains utility upgrades.

Your immediate goal is to unlock the second and third formation slots on the South path. The third slot costs 150,000 gold, which feels steep at first, but it pays off completely.

After securing a three-hero party, prioritize auto-open chest runes, XP bonuses, and the second active skill slot for your heroes.

Progression and Cube Tips

Don't underestimate the Cube, as it's where your item progression lives.

• Synthesis: Combines 9 identical items of the same rarity into 1 higher-tier item (e.g., 9 white items into 1 green). Always do this for common gear to upgrade without relying entirely on RNG.
• Alchemy: Converts unwanted or poorly rolled gear into gold, which you desperately need for the Rune tree.

Remember to turn on "Auto-retry" in the settings so your characters keep farming without you babysitting them.
