The GAM3 Awards 2024 will be held in person for the first time at the YGG Play Summit

At the end of each year, we award the winners who carried the torch of web3 games throughout the year and had the greatest impact on our industry within their respective genres. This year is no different.

However, the anticipated GAM3 Awards 2024 will be held in person for the first time in November at the YGG Play Summit in Manila, Philippines. The collaboration with Yield Guild Games (YGG) marks an important moment for the awards, which continue to grow and celebrate excellence within the web3 gaming ecosystem.

After two successful online editions of the ceremony, the GAM3 Awards 2023 ceremony, held on December 14, 2022, reached a peak audience of over 36,000 CCV and an average of over 12,000 viewers throughout the show on Twitch alone. In total, over 50,000 viewers tuned into the live event on all live streaming platforms, and the event garnered over 250,000 views in just the first 24 hours.

In 2024, the YGG Play Summit will serve as the stage for this prestigious event. Known as the "GDC of web3 games," the summit brings together key figures in the industry, including Yield Guild Games co-founder Gabby Dizon, Animoca Brands CEO Yat Siu, and Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin, among others. The summit is known for its consumer focus, hosting tournaments, exhibitions, and community-driven activities, all of which align with the mission of the GAM3 Awards.

This is the third year we have organized these awards and we really wanted to do something

especially this time. The Philippines has long been one of the main centers of web3 gaming, and some of the earliest users and most passionate community members are based here. That's why it seems right that our first physical version of the GAM3 Awards will take place in the heart of Manila, the heart of web3 gaming.

Celebrating the best of Web3 games

As every year, at the GAM3 Awards 2023, 3 new categories were introduced (fighting, racing / sports, and on-chain games) to crown more winners in genres where several newcomers entered the world of web3 games and deserve recognition. At the GAM3 Awards 2024, genres will be renewed to adapt to the progress of web3 games, as well as new categories in which games can compete.

Games will be evaluated based on various criteria, such as core loop, accessibility, replayability factor, fun elements, graphics, and overall gaming experience. Only games with an active and playable version that meet the mentioned criteria will be eligible for nomination, with the exception of the Most Anticipated Game category and the People's Choice Award.

The jury

Well-known faces from the gaming world, including influencers and industry veterans, will be part of the jury to support a diverse and transparent voting system. This year's jury will see returning jurors from 2023, as well as new representatives from VC, chains and web3 gaming ecosystems, infrastructure partners, and content creators, as well as leaders from traditional games and tech giants like Amazon and Google.

The jury's decision will carry a weight of 90%, while the votes from the community will contribute 10% to the final result. However, categories such as People's Choice Award and Best Content Creator will depend 100% on the community's votes, while Games' Choice Award allows game studios to vote for their favorite game of the year.

As the event approaches, the anticipation grows for what promises to be one of the most important nights in web3 gaming. The awards ceremony, scheduled for November 22, 2024 in Bonifacio Global City, Manila, is expected to attract widespread attention from the global gaming community.

In the Philippines, we focus on the people who play these games, and that's what YGG has always been known for. All other web3 gaming events around the world are B2B events; the YGG Play Summit is the only one truly focused on the consumer experience. For us, hosting the GAM3 2024 awards here in Manila is very exciting because it means that real players of these games will be there to vote and cheer on their favorite titles, while meeting the teams behind them and the content creators who play a significant role in their success.

The GAM3 awards are now in their third year and this event continues to highlight the best and brightest players in Web3. As the community gathers in Manila, the world will be watching to see who will take home the honors at the intersection of innovation, gaming, and blockchain technology.
