After years of waiting, rumors, delays, and a community that never stopped believing, Hollow Knight: Silksong has finally arrived. September 4, 2025 marks the official release of the highly anticipated metroidvania developed by Team Cherry, now available across all platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been live since this morning, with a synchronized global release that began at 10:00 a.m. EST. The game unlocked simultaneously across all platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.
Additionally, the game is available on Game Pass from day one, and early contributors to the original Hollow Knight project are receiving free codes as a thank-you from Team Cherry.
In this sequel, players take control of Hornet, the kingdom’s guardian princess, in a completely new adventure. Expect new mechanics, stunning environments, and a level of challenge even greater than the original. With a launch price of just $20 USD, Silksong stands out as one of the most accessible and anticipated games of the year.
The Silksong effect is felt not only in fan excitement but also in the release calendar. September 2025 marks a historic drop in new releases on Steam: only 606 titles, compared to over 1,700 in previous months. Several indie studios have chosen to reschedule their launches to avoid competing with Team Cherry’s phenomenon.
While Silksong dominates the conversation, September still holds other major releases like Cronos: The New Dawn, Borderlands 4, Silent Hill f, and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. But today, all eyes are on Hallownest and the return of one of the most influential indie titles of the last decade.
