Subnautica 2: Co-op improvements in the new roadmap

Subnautica 2 just hit early access, and the reception has been absolutely massive. If you've already dived in to explore the alien ocean, you'll be glad to know that Unknown Worlds isn't slowing down anytime soon.

We already have an official roadmap detailing their future plans. The developers explained that we'll see different types of updates: from quick hotfixes to squash bugs, to thematic patches and massive content expansions.

Quality of life and exploration improvements

The first major thematic patch coming to the game is designed to make our lives a bit easier underwater. Among the highlights, there's a general improvement in PDA management and a new system for discovering shipwrecks.

Key adjustments are also on the way for vehicle crafting and biological modifications. And for those who hate swimming slowly, we'll finally get an underwater sprint system that adds a lot more momentum to exploration.

A much more immersive co-op experience

What excites us the most is the second thematic update, which will focus entirely on the multiplayer mode. Exploring with friends is great, but the studio wants to take it to the next level with highly requested community features.

Soon we'll have proximity voice chat, guaranteeing some pretty funny (or terrifying) situations in the depths. Plus, you'll be able to trade items with other players, revive downed teammates, and use more customization options, including improved building tools and new emojis.

Future expansions and community feedback

Looking further ahead, Unknown Worlds plans to release "expansions" that will bring new biomes, creatures, and story chapters. Early access could last about two years, but that will depend on how development progresses.
