The VCT Masters in London brought us more than just top-tier gameplay. As initially detailed by Brazilian outlet Olhar Digital and officially showcased on the VCT broadcast by Riot Games, Summit was officially announced as the 13th map joining the Valorant roster. The new battleground drops into Competitive matchmaking on June 24, kicking off Season 2026 // Act 4.
If you’re deeply invested in the game's lore—especially regarding Sage—you’ll love the thematic focus here. Set in an ancient monastery high in the Chinese mountains, and heavily inspired by the breathtaking real-world peaks of Zhangjiajie, Summit served as a sacred training ground for early Radiants. While the environmental aesthetics are absolutely incredible, it's the fresh map mechanics that will truly shake up the competitive meta.
Summit features a standard tactical layout with three main lanes and two spike sites (A and B). However, the standout feature highlighted by analysts during the VCT reveal is the introduction of collapsible walls. These three structural doors, located in the mid-lane and at the site entrances, can be dynamically destroyed during a round using sustained gunfire or heavy offensive abilities. When fully closed, they leave small gaps perfect for bouncing utility and creating tricky, unexpected line-ups.
The map also heavily emphasizes verticality, incorporating a network of zip lines that highly mobile agents like Jett, Raze, or Neon will definitely exploit. Its labyrinth-like design, loyal to traditional Chinese architecture, requires careful pixel-clearing. This means Controllers and Sentinels are going to have a fantastic time locking down map control, likely making Cypher and Killjoy must-picks.

Act 4 isn't just about exploring the new map. According to Riot Games' updated roadmap, the patch introduces Retake, a fast-paced 3v3 game mode focused entirely on high-stakes post-plant scenarios. One team defends a pre-planted Spike while the other attempts to defuse it before time runs out. Loadouts are completely randomized and upgrade as the rounds progress, keeping the action fast and serving as the perfect warm-up.
We're also getting a brand-new Battle Pass headlined by the sci-fi-inspired Blackspyre Collection. For the standard 1,000 VP, players can unlock premium skins for the Phantom, Sheriff, Spectre, Ares, and the new Duality melee weapon, alongside various sprays, gunbuddies, and player cards across both the free and paid tracks.

As a very welcome bonus, Riot is offering temporary rank protection to ease players into the new content. For the first two weeks of Act 4, ranked losses will deduct 50% less Ranked Rating (RR), while victories will still grant full points. It's the perfect opportunity to learn the ins and outs of Summit without tanking your hard-earned rank.
