DEADROP is the debut game developed by Midnight Society, formerly known as "Project Moon". This title is a Vertical Extraction Shooter (VES) that merges the level design of an arena shooter with the scale and scope of a Battle Royale, as well as incorporating the tactical gameplay of an extraction shooter.

Overview

DEADROP, formerly known as "Project Moon", is in development by Midnight Society. This Vertical Extraction Shooter (VES) combines the level design of arena shooters with the large scale of Battle Royale games and the extraction mechanics of titles like Escape from Tarkov. Players will compete for the best loot or try to extract alive with their gear. The game is being developed transparently with the Midnight Society team and the community. DEADROP is anticipated to be a AAA game.

Story and Context

In the year 2020.b, 40 years after the start of the Climate Wars, population levels and pollution have reached critical levels. This has led to the construction of huge self-governing city-state towers, known as REFINER STATES. These towers extract toxins from the stratosphere and export SPACE DUST, a concentrated and highly addictive form. The trade of DUST has led to rival factions of Skins and Syns fighting against the Cleaners who operate the towers, in an ongoing battle for resources and gear.

Gameplay Mechanics

Looting

The Refiner State is a highly fortified environment full of high-value items. Surviving players can find abandoned weapons, accessories to customize their weapons, ammunition, armor, and coveted items on the black market. The goal is to collect as much as you can, equip your weapon on the go, and extract the highest quality loot possible.

Fight or Evade

The verticality of the Refiner State introduces unique challenges. Players must climb, slide, and move strategically through a combat maze. Every misstep can lead to your synthetic replacement (SYN) returning to the tower to collect your body and backpack. SYN are limited and represent your last effort to regain your pride and loot.

Extraction

To escape alive, players must find an extraction point within a sector before it is taken by a rival looter, or fight until they are the last remaining Claw. Extraction options include stealthily boarding a helicopter, using a giant zipline, passing through the Maglock Gates, or negotiating your way out through the Superlift. "The Deadrop" is the mega loot bag awarded to the last fighter in the Tower. Cooperation may be key to a successful extraction, as long as you can trust your teammates.

AI - The Cleaners

The Cleaners are a faction that appears to be a mix of human and AI, with unknown motivations. Facing them can be extremely dangerous due to their unpredictable nature.

The Vendor

In DEADROP, players can interact with "The Vendor," a merchant who helps recover lost loot in exchange for Dust, the in-game currency. The Vendor offers services such as tagging

articles and a system for buying and selling objects.

Available Platforms

Currently, DEADROP is only available for PC. However, Midnight Society plans to expand support to consoles like Xbox and PlayStation in the future. Stay tuned for announcements to learn about the release dates on these platforms.
