Diamond is one of the most valuable and essential resources in Minecraft, required for crafting high-durability tools, strong armor, and enchantment tables.

After the updates that modified terrain generation (Caves & Cliffs), mineral distribution underwent significant changes, shifting optimal concentration points toward the negative depths of the world.
In current versions of the game, diamond ore begins generating from layer Y=16. However, its distribution follows a "triangular bias" trend, meaning the probability of finding it increases as the player descends toward the lower limit of the map.
There are two main methods to efficiently locate this mineral:
This is the most systematic and safest method. It consists of digging straight tunnels 2 blocks high and 1 block wide at layer Y=-58.

Aquifer-type caves and megacaves introduced in recent versions expose large surfaces of blocks. Although this is a fast way to spot diamonds, the game applies an "air exposure" penalty.
Exploring underwater at these depths is often highly effective, as submerged blocks are not considered exposed to air.

For professional extraction, it is imperative to consider the following factors:

Unlike regular stone, Deepslate has higher hardness, which slows down manual mining. The use of pickaxes enchanted with Efficiency IV or V is recommended to maintain a steady mining pace at negative levels.
