Cuphead coins are an essential resource for upgrading your arsenal throughout the adventure. Collecting all 40 coins from the base game will grant you enough money to purchase every weapon, charm, and upgrade available at Porkrind's Shop.

These coins are strategically distributed across the entire map. To make your search easier, we have divided them into Run 'N Gun level coins, hidden map coins, and direct rewards from NPCs.

  • The Tutorial (1 coin): Complete the introductory level "Home Sweet Home". Make sure to pick up the coin floating in the stage before crossing the exit door.

  • Talk to Mac (3 coins): As you cross the wooden bridge at the beginning of the island, you will find a seated apple named Mac. Speak with him and he will gift you 3 coins without asking for anything in return.

  • Hidden Map Coin (1 coin): Defeat all the main bosses on Isle I. Once done, go to the central area near the axe character (Chip) and look behind the trees to claim the hidden coin.

  • Hidden Coin Behind the Caravans (1 coin): Head over to the area near the exit that connects to Isle III, right next to the Funhouse Frazzle level. Walk right behind one of the caravans or green cabins to trigger the hidden coin.

  • Buster's Challenge (1 coin): Look for the juggler named Buster. To get his reward, you must execute 4 consecutive parries without touching the ground in any level and then speak with him.

  • Ginger's Shortcut (1 coin): Speak with Ginger (the donut-shaped character). You can earn her coin after connecting the bridges on the map or by discovering the secret shortcut that goes around the mountain behind Wally Warbles' birdhouse.

How to Check Which Cuphead Coins You Are Missing

If you find yourself stuck at 38 or 39 coins, don't worry. The game map allows you to check action levels individually:

When standing over any Run 'N Gun level, the interface will show you a counter. If it doesn't display 5/5, it means you left a coin behind in that stage.

If you have already completed all levels with a perfect score, double-check your map checklist. Most players usually miss one of the four hidden map coins or the consecutive parry challenge from Buster the juggler.

Trivia About the In-Game Coins

  • The Visual Design: The cut-out center circle that decorates each coin mimics the classic "pie-eyes" aesthetic from 1930s cartoons, which also defines the character designs of Cuphead and Mugman.

  • A Reference to Pac-Man?: Although many users mistake this indentation for a nod to the famous dot-eater, the developers confirmed it is purely a coincidence, as the video game draws inspiration strictly from classic animation prior to the 1980s.

Now you are ready to face the Devil!
