Hollow Knight: All Charm Notch Locations Guide

In Hollow Knight, having the best charms is useless if you don't have space to equip them. Charm Notches are the items that increase your carrying capacity.

The Knight begins their adventure with 3 default notches. Throughout Hallownest, you can find 8 additional notches, adding up to a total of 11 maximum slots. Here we explain where to find them all.

1. Salubra's Shop (4 Notches)

The most direct way to get notches is by buying them from Salubra, the Charm Lover. Her shop is located in the southeast of Forgotten Crossroads.

However, Salubra won't sell you the notches just for having Geo; you need to prove you are a collector. You must have a specific number of charms in your inventory to unlock each purchase.

• Notch #1: Requires owning 5 charms. Price: 120 Geo.
• Notch #2: Requires owning 10 charms. Price: 500 Geo.
• Notch #3: Requires owning 18 charms. Price: 900 Geo.
• Notch #4: Requires owning 25 charms. Price: 1400 Geo.

2. Fungal Wastes

This is usually the first notch players find outside of the shop.

• Location: In the southwest part of the Fungal Wastes, near the Queen's Station but heading down towards the Mantis Village.

• The Challenge: Upon entering a specific room, the doors will lock and you will have to defeat two Shrumal Ogres simultaneously.
• Reward: Upon defeating them, the Charm Notch will drop.

3. Fog Canyon

This notch is in a somewhat hidden and dangerous area due to the explosive jellyfish.

• Location: To the northeast of the Fog Canyon map, just below the connection to Forgotten Crossroads.
• Requirement: Although you can reach it with great skill and the Crystal Heart, the "official" and safe way requires Isma's Tear (to swim in acid), as the path is flooded.
• The Challenge: You must navigate a small cave full of explosive mines (Oomas). At the end of the path, you will find the solitary notch.

4. Colosseum of Fools

Located at the top of Kingdom's Edge. To get this notch, you must prove your worth in combat.

• Requirement: Complete the Trial of the Warrior, which is the first challenge of the Colosseum.
• Entry Cost: 100 Geo to unlock the trial.
• Reward: Upon defeating the final boss of the trial (Zote, if you saved him, or simply finishing the waves), you will be granted the notch and Geo.

5. The Grimm Troupe (DLC)

This is generally the last notch players get, as it belongs to the DLC content (free and included in all current versions).

• Location: Dirtmouth, inside the large tent.
• Requirement: You must summon the Grimm Troupe by lighting the "Nightmare Lantern" in Howling Cliffs.
• The Challenge: You have to complete the first phase of collecting flames with the Grimmchild charm. Upon returning to the tent, you will have to face the leader, Grimm (the normal version, not the Nightmare King).
• Reward: Upon defeating him, the audience will applaud you and you will receive the final Charm Notch as a prize.
