Icarus: Console Edition is a first-person survival video game developed by RocketWerkz. The player descends onto an alien planet with hostile environmental conditions, aggressive wildlife, and limited resources, operating under a real-time mission timer system.

During the first hour of gameplay, most premature deaths occur. Lack of initial preparation, unfamiliarity with the environment, and poor resource management often lead to avoidable mistakes. Below are five practical recommendations to increase survival chances without losing progression.
Upon landing, oxygen, hunger, and thirst meters begin to decrease. Oxygen is the most critical resource, as the planet’s atmosphere is not breathable without supply.
The mineral known as oxite allows players to refill their oxygen tank in the early stages. Identifying nearby deposits close to the landing site prevents unnecessary travel. At the same time, it is advisable to gather edible berries and locate a nearby water source, such as rivers or lakes.

Ignoring any of these indicators during the first few minutes can end the session before establishing a minimal base.
Weather in Icarus is not merely decorative. Storms can cause direct damage to the character and deteriorate exposed structures.
Before nightfall or changing weather conditions, it is advisable to build a basic shelter using wood or stone. A fully enclosed structure with walls and a roof significantly reduces environmental damage.
Placing a bedroll establishes a respawn point. Adding a campfire inside helps restore energy and cook food. If construction is not immediately possible, a cave can serve as temporary protection, although it carries risks such as wildlife presence or limited space.
The planet’s wildlife includes territorial animals capable of eliminating low-level players quickly. During the first hour, direct combat without proper tools is not recommended.

Crafting a basic bow and arrows provides an early advantage. Attacking from a distance reduces risk when facing wolves or other predators. It is also important to analyze terrain before engaging any creature; elevation and natural obstacles can become tactical advantages.
Experience gained through combat should be planned rather than improvised.
As experience is gained, players receive talent points and access to blueprints. In early stages, it is advisable to prioritize essential tools such as the axe, pickaxe, knife, and bow.
Talents that improve resource gathering, stamina, or tool efficiency provide cumulative advantages. Investing points in secondary upgrades during the first hour may slow progression and increase vulnerability.
A structured progression path facilitates the transition to more advanced technologies in later mission stages.
A common mistake is collecting only what is required at the moment. In Icarus, planning is essential.

Wood, fiber, stone, and basic minerals should be stockpiled from the beginning. A well-managed inventory accelerates the construction of shelters, tools, and crafting stations.
Maintaining reserve resources also allows players to respond effectively to unexpected events such as prolonged storms or hostile encounters.
