Anichess

Anichess is a platform that combines classic chess with modern game mechanics through a spell system. Players can solve chess puzzles, compete against each other, and, soon, create their own spells. This game aims to be intuitive and adaptable for both beginners and experienced chess players.

Additionally, Anichess has established partnerships with leading chess figures such as Magnus Carlsen, Anish Giri, Sopiko Giri, David Howell, and Sam Sevian.

Gameplay

Basic Rules

Players choose between one or three spells at the start of each game, depending on the game mode (Lite or Classic). You gain 1 mana point per turn if you don't cast a spell (maximum cumulative: 8 points).

Captures using spells are treated as normal movement.

Game Formats:

In Anichess, the rules are tailored to the players' preferences, whether they want some pressure to move quickly or a more classic approach that takes a long time.

• Bullet: 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move (3|2)
• Blitz: 5 minutes + 2 seconds per move (5|2)
• Rapid: 10 minutes without increment (10|0)

Victory Conditions

• Objective: To win by using the Kingslay technique, which involves capturing the opponent's king. Unlike classical chess, Anichess does not have the concept of check or checkmate due to spells.

• Draw: When the same board position is repeated three times or if both players make 50 consecutive moves without moving a pawn or capturing a piece. Players can also agree to a draw, or either player can resign at any time.

Game Modes

Like most strategy-themed games, this one has an ELO system that increases or decreases with the result of each match. Therefore, to avoid constantly having to choose matches that have an impact, four game modes are offered:

• AI Training with four difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master.
• Quick Match: No impact on ELO, ideal for practice.
• Friendly Match: A private match in which friends can compete with each other without affecting ELO.
• Ranked Match: Impacts ELO based on Glicko2. Requires winning 5 Quick Matches to unlock.

Spell System

In Anichess, the focus on innovation and attracting new players and audiences to the world of chess is on spells, which introduce additional mechanics, using mana points and usage limits per game. Here are some available spells:

• Parkour Mech: Permanently transforms a piece into a knight. (3 Mana | 2 uses)
• Imposter: Exchanges identical pieces with the opponent. (5 Mana | 2 uses)
• Shot in the Dark: Invisible movement of a piece. (3 Mana | 3 uses)
• House Recruit: Creates a pawn on an empty square. (4 Mana | 3 uses)
• Queen Time: Allows a Knight, Bishop, or Rook to move as a queen once during your turn. The piece can capture any piece except the king during this move. (7 mana | 1 use)

Progression and Ranking

As mentioned at the beginning, progression within the game is what allows you to unlock some of the spells considered higher-level. To do so, you have the following quests:

• Queen Time: Complete 10 Quick Matches.
• Slip: Win 1 Quick Match.
• Imposter: Play 10 Ranked Matches.

Ranking System

Based on the Glicko2 ELO system, players will find a system similar to that of League of Legends. These are the established ranks so far and the points required to belong to each one:

• Apprentice: < 1400
• Guardian: 1401 - 1700
• Sorcerer: 1701 - 2000
• Tactician: 2001 - 2300
• Commander: 2301 - 2600
• Champion: 2601 - 2800
• Legend: > 2800

Inventory and Customization

Anichess offers a customizable experience, allowing players to personalize their playstyle through various themes.

The inventory consists of chessboards, backgrounds, chess sets, and unlocked spells. Here, each player can mix and match different chessboard, background, and set themes to create a unique look for their games.

In the future, Anichess will add more items to the inventory that can be unlocked and fully owned as NFTs.

To start playing, you can create an account using:

• Social Login: Facebook, Gmail, Discord, or X. A non-custodial wallet is automatically generated to manage game assets.

• Web3 Login: Compatible with Metamask, Rabby, and other wallets via WalletConnect. It is completely secure.
