Web3 gaming is transforming the industry by introducing digital ownership, interoperability, and new decentralized economies. In this context, three networks stand out for their technological advances, adoption, and projection:
Immutable is a platform launched in 2018 with an exclusive focus on game and NFT development. Built on Ethereum, it offers two layer-2 solutions: Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM.
In 2025, the company plans to unify both technologies into a single chain.
Its solutions include Immutable Passport, which enables access without external wallets, and marketplace tools like Orderbook. Its ecosystem already includes over 500 signed games and partnerships with Netmarble, TOKYO BEAST, and Polygon.
It also resolved a SEC investigation without sanctions, enabling faster global expansion, especially in Asia, where more than 50% of mobile gaming revenue currently comes from. The game Treeverse stands out as one of its most relevant recent launches.
Base is a layer-2 network developed by Coinbase, based on Optimistic Rollups. Its proposal is not exclusively focused on gaming, but its ease of use makes it a viable option for projects integrating NFTs and digital content.
Base aims at a “creator economy,” focusing on communities and culture. Being directly integrated into Coinbase, it facilitates onboarding for Web2 users, which can benefit casual or experimental gaming.
Although its gaming ecosystem is more limited, projects like Heroes of Mavia have been built on this network. EVM interoperability and low transaction costs allow building games requiring many interactions without impacting the player.
Avalanche is a layer-1 blockchain launched in 2020, with a unique three-chain architecture (X-Chain, C-Chain, and P-Chain) and the ability to create custom subnets. This structure allows traffic isolation, reduced congestion, and optimized performance for specific applications, including Web3 games.
Its subnets operate as independent blockchains with their own rules and tokenomics, allowing game studios to deploy dedicated environments without impacting the main network. Thanks to Avalanche Consensus, the network achieves finality in under 2 seconds and processes up to 4,500 transactions per second, with low fees and a deflationary model by burning commissions.
Avalanche’s gaming ecosystem includes titles like Shrapnel, Off The Grid, Maplestory, and Snail Trail Game. The network has attracted studios and projects due to its scalability, Ethereum interoperability, and partnerships with brands such as Visa, FIFA, and Amazon Web Services.

According to industry estimates, the Web3 gaming market could grow from $4.6 billion in 2022 to over $65 billion by 2027.
