How to Play SolForge Fusion | Free on Steam

SolForge Fusion is a collectible card game (CCG) developed by Stone Blade Entertainment, created by Richard Garfield (Magic: The Gathering) and Justin Gary (Ascension Deckbuilding Game).

It was released in early access in April 2024 and can be played in both digital and physical formats. The story places each player as a Forgeborn, a champion fighting for their faction in the frozen world of Solis.

How to Play

The goal is to win by managing a deck that evolves as the match progresses. Every turn matters because cards level up and unlock stronger combos in later rounds.

Gameplay combines positioning, creatures with progressive growth, and spells that trigger chain effects. The tutorial is fully voiced, making the first steps easier; there is an initial learning curve until the evolution system “clicks” and decision flow becomes natural.

 

Main Mechanics

Fused Decks

Each playable deck is built by combining two faction decks generated algorithmically. There are 9 Forgeborn with unique abilities, and no two decks are the same, allowing endless combinations and varied playstyles. This approach encourages continuous learning in PvP and PvE.

Leveling System

When a card is played, it is not discarded—it levels up, returning in stronger versions during later turns. This mechanic is the heart of the game, forcing players to plan several turns ahead and adapt strategies as the deck evolves.

Deployment and Combat

Combat is tactical and values positioning. Creatures evolve, and spells enable combos. Each decision can create ripples (chain effects) that define board advantage. The game includes over 40,000 unique cards and embraces the Play • Own • Collect philosophy.

Game Modes

• PvP: casual or competitive duels against players worldwide.
• PvE (rogue-lite): campaign in Solis with progression, rewards, and deck unlocks.
• Hybrid physical–digital mode: allows scanning physical decks via QR to use them online.
• Coming soon: in-game tournaments, competitive ladder, leaderboards, timed challenges, and cross-platform play. Also features achievements and monthly or daily rankings.

Physical–Digital Hybrid and Optional Web3

SolForge Fusion integrates digital ownership of decks and allows them to be converted into NFTs using the $SFG token. This enables buying, selling, and trading unique decks, as well as features like minting or event participation.

The Web3 layer is optional. Anyone can enjoy the game as a traditional CCG in physical and/or digital form without interacting with blockchain.
