Lithium is a rare resource in Subnautica 2 used to craft important upgrades and advanced equipment. It can only be found in specific parts of the ocean and requires a special adaptation to harvest it safely.

Main Lithium Location

Lithium is found in the volcanic caves, approximately 400 meters east of the Lifepod. To survive the warm waters in this area you will need the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.

Lithium has a distinctive appearance: it is a blocky mineral with a purple base and yellow tips. You will need a Sonic Resonator to harvest it.

You will know you are in the right spot when you see a reddish-orange tint in the water and the temperature gauge appears in the center of your screen. Volcanic vents are also home to resources like Sulfur and Gold on the surface, but Lithium is mainly found underground.

Best Farming Spot

The best place to farm Lithium in Subnautica 2 is underneath the Cicada Wreck (Empty Hold), right in the center of the volcanic vents region east of the Lifepod.

The wreckage is huge and hard to miss. The hold is tangled in the rocky structures on the seafloor. The crevices underneath the wreckage lead to a cave with over a dozen Lithium deposits growing on the walls. This is hands-down the best place to collect Lithium in the entire game.

Return frequently, as Lithium respawns quite often.

Early Game Farming Spot (without Heat Tolerance)

If you need Lithium early in the game, there is one location you can check that does not require the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.

Head 300 meters south of the Lifepod until you find the Cicada Wreck (Canteen) at 90 meters depth. Just past that you will find a giant alien clam called the Great Jaw.

Inside the Great Jaw there is a small circular structure covered in bright pink strings with around a dozen Lithium deposits. However, touching any of the threads will cause the Great Jaw to close and trap you inside.

If you touch a thread, swim out as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it will kill you with poison.
