The Solo Leveling community is on alert. Several posts have suggested that the popular saga might be coming to an end, especially after recent announcements about its sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. But is this truly a final farewell, or just a temporary pause?

This article gathers the most recent facts about the series, its anime, and its continuation to clearly understand what’s happening with the Solo Leveling universe.

From Web Novel to Global Phenomenon

Solo Leveling began as a South Korean web novel written by Chugong, first published in 2016 on KakaoPage. The story, centered on the hunter Sung Jin-woo and his rise from the bottom to become the strongest in the world, quickly turned into a mass phenomenon.

The success led to the creation of the manhwa (webtoon) illustrated by DUBU (Jang Sung-rak), released in 2018 by Redice Studio, and later to the highly anticipated anime adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures, which premiered on January 7, 2024.

In 2025, the second season of the anime —titled Arise from the Shadow— concluded in March, cementing Solo Leveling as one of the most notable anime productions in recent years.

The Sequel: Solo Leveling: Ragnarok

Following the success of the main series, the Korean publisher announced a continuation titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, first released in August 2024. This story focuses on Sung Su-ho, the son of the original protagonist, and is led by a new creative team: writer Daul and artist Jin, replacing the original duo Chugong and DUBU.

However, after 47 chapters were published, the publisher confirmed in April 2025 that Ragnarok would enter a hiatus (temporary pause). This announcement, combined with headlines mentioning a “farewell,” raised concerns among readers about the possible end of the franchise.

What Has Been Said Officially?

So far, no official statement has confirmed the end of Solo Leveling or the cancellation of Ragnarok. The available information points to a planned break, not a definitive conclusion.

Meanwhile, Crunchyroll—the platform that distributes the anime—confirmed that the series will remain available in its catalog and that there are plans to continue it, though no release date has been announced for a third season.
According to the producers, whether a new part is made will depend on the support of the fans.

Why Was There Talk of “The End”?

  • The Atomix article mentioned the supposed dissatisfaction of the original author with the sequel, which led to headlines about a “farewell.”
  • The hiatus of Ragnarok was interpreted as an ending, although this kind of pause is common in the manhwa industry.
  • The lack of immediate confirmation about season 3 of the anime caused uncertainty among fans.
  • The change of writers and illustrators was seen by some as a break from the original work.

Together, these factors created the perception of an ending, although official information points instead to a project reorganization.

What’s Next for Solo Leveling?

Everything indicates that the franchise will remain active. The sequel Ragnarok is expected to resume publication after its scheduled break, and the anime production keeps the door open for future seasons.

It’s possible that the new creative teams will bring a different tone to the saga, but there’s no sign that the Solo Leveling universe has reached its end. Instead, it seems to be entering a new stage, with a fresh approach but within the same narrative world that captivated millions of readers and viewers.

The legacy of Sung Jin-woo and his world continues to expand, though with some changes in its development. In short, Solo Leveling is not saying goodbye: it’s simply taking a breath before its next level.
