After winning his third consecutive World Championship, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, one of the most iconic AD carries in League of Legends history, has announced his departure from T1, the team with which he reached the pinnacle of global competition. The news marks the close of a legendary chapter for the Korean organization and for the player who redefined the ADC role.

The decision shocked the community, as Gumayusi had just been named MVP of the Worlds 2025 final, where T1 defeated KT Rolster in an epic series. Although contract details were not disclosed, sources close to the team say it was a personal decision by the player, seeking new challenges after seven years with the organization.

According to EGamersWorld reports, the season wasn’t easy for Gumayusi. Early in the year, he was temporarily replaced by Smash, and it took intervention from T1’s general manager to reinstate him in the starting lineup. This may have created internal tensions that influenced his final decision.
Additionally, some insiders suggest that T1 was already planning a strategic roster overhaul, which may have accelerated his departure. The signing of Peyz, a rising star from the LCK and MSI, supports this theory.

T1 has confirmed the arrival of Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan, former Gen.G player and three-time LCK champion, as the new AD carry for the 2026 season. While the move brings excitement, it also raises questions about the chemistry of the new roster.

Although his next destination hasn’t been officially announced, rumors point to:
Gumayusi’s departure not only marks a shift in T1’s roster, but also the end of an era that helped define modern League of Legends. His legacy will continue to inspire new generations of players as the competitive scene enters a new chapter without one of its brightest icons.
Gumayusi leaves, but his legacy remains.
