Moonfrost, the charming RPG that blends life simulation and farming, is back with a new alpha version. Developed by Oxalis Games, this title has captured players' attention with its pixel art aesthetic and its innovative mix of traditional mechanics and blockchain technology. With the arrival of Alpha Release 5, the game is refreshed with significant improvements, a new task system, and the debut of an event-based mode: House Hunters.
Moonfrost is a multiplayer video game that combines life simulation and RPG elements, designed with a low-fidelity pixel art style that stands out for its nostalgic and cozy aesthetic. Set in a fantasy-inspired version of the modern world, the game invites players to farm, explore, and build in a vibrant world full of possibilities. Available for both mobile devices and PC, Moonfrost offers an accessible and immersive experience for those seeking a relaxing title with competitive elements and modern mechanics.
Although this update isn't the biggest, according to the team, it includes significant improvements that enhance gameplay and add new layers of fun and customization.
The quest system has been revamped under the name "Tasks 2.0." This redesign aims to provide a more dynamic and entertaining experience. Now, tasks are tied to earning XP, and completing certain quests will unlock new game features. Additionally:
Daily tasks grant Craftcoin, a crucial currency to participate in events like House Hunters.
New characters, besides Walter and Ash, will now appear in the village to offer quests and enrich the narrative.
With the introduction of XP, players can level up as they complete tasks and create blueprints. This system not only rewards effort but also allows players to showcase their achievements in competitive events, where they can earn the prestigious title of "Frost Hunter."
The Build Mode has received significant adjustments to facilitate structure design:
More precise element placement.
Improved visualization with wall occlusion.
Preparations to incorporate roofs, though still in development.
These improvements not only enhance the creative experience but also prepare players to excel in construction events.
In addition to gameplay changes, Alpha Release 5 includes technical and security improvements:
A more intuitive interface.
Enhanced anti-bot protocols and systems to prevent multiple accounts.
Optimized password recovery system and more stable servers.
House Hunters is a new event-based mode where players can use blueprints to design and decorate unique structures. Blueprints are unlocked by farming and completing missions, but the construction takes place on a separate map, without resource restrictions.
The first event in this mode is scheduled for January 2025. Players will compete to create the best constructions, which will be judged by the community. Rewards include:
SHARDs, which can be used to unlock exclusive content in future versions.
Unique blueprints.
Rare items.
This marks the first time this mode is fully integrated into the game, representing a big step for Moonfrost.
Alpha Release 5 will be launched soon, but there is no official date yet as the team awaits approval on the Epic Games Store. Unlike previous versions, it will not be available through the standalone launcher due to maintenance costs.
If you want to participate, make sure to register on the official Moonfrost website before December 9. There are 1,000 codes available, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you receive your code, you'll have 72 hours to redeem it. If not redeemed, the code will be reassigned.
Although all player progress resets at the end of each alpha, this version offers a limited-edition collectible that you can keep. This exclusive item will unlock special features in future versions. Additionally, completing tasks in this version will grant early access to new features planned for the sixth alpha.
Moonfrost Alpha Release 5 marks another milestone in the development of this cozy simulator. With key improvements, new mechanics, and the incorporation of exciting competitive events, this alpha version is a unique opportunity to explore and contribute to the growth of this promising game. If you haven't yet experienced the charming world of Moonfrost, now is the perfect time to start. Don't miss it!
