Anichess

Anichess is a platform that combines classic chess with modern game mechanics through a spell system. Players can solve chess puzzles, compete against each other, and soon, create their own spells. This game aims to be intuitive and adaptive for both beginners and expert chess players.

In addition, Anichess has established partnerships with prominent chess figures such as Magnus Carlsen, Anish Giri, Sopiko Giri, David Howell and Sam Sevian.

Game Mechanics

Basic Rules

Players choose between 1 or 3 spells at the start of each game, depending on the game mode (Lite or Classic). You gain 1 mana point per turn if you don't cast a spell (maximum cumulative: 8 points).

Captures by spells are considered as normal movements.

Game formats:

In Anichess the rules are adjusted to the tastes of the players, whether they want some pressure to have to move quickly or do it in a classic way, in which you can take a good time.

• Blitz: 5 minutes + 2 seconds per move (5|2)

• Rapid: 10 minutes without increment (10|0)

• Classic: 30 minutes without increment (30|0)

Victory Conditions

• Objective: Win by using the Kingslay technique, which consists of capturing the opponent's king. Unlike classical chess, Anichess has no concept of check or checkmate due to spells.

• Draw: When the same position on the board is repeated three times or if both players make 50 consecutive moves without any pawn being moved or any piece being captured. Players may also agree to a draw or either player may resign at any time.

Game Modes

Like most strategy-themed games, this one has an ELO system that increases or decreases with the result of each match. Therefore, in order not to force the player to take matches that have some impact all the time, four game modes are provided:

• AI Training with four difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Master.
• Quick Match: No impact on ELO, ideal for practice.
• Friendly Match: Private match in which friends can face each other without effect on ELO.
• Ranked Match: Impacts ELO based on Glicko2. Requires winning 5 Quick Matches to unlock.

Spell System

In Anichess, the bet that seeks to innovate and attract new players and audiences to the world of chess is focused on spells, which introduce additional mechanics, using mana points and limits of use per game. These are some that are available:

• Parkour Mech: Permanently transforms a piece into a knight. (3 Mana | 2 uses)
• Imposter: Exchanges equal pieces with the opponent. (5 Mana | 2 uses)
• Shot in the Dark: Invisible movement of a piece. (3 Mana | 3 uses)
• House Recruit: Creates a pawn in an empty square. (4 Mana | 3 uses)
• Queen Time: Allows certain pieces to move as a queen. (8 Mana | 1 use)

Progression and Ranking

As mentioned at the beginning, progression within the game is what allows you to unlock some of the spells that are considered higher level. To do so, you have these missions:

• Queen Time: Complete 10 Quick Matches.
• Slip: Win 1 Quick Match.
• Imposter: Play 10 Ranked Matches.

Ranking System

Based on the Glicko2 ELO system, here players will find a system similar to that of League of Legends. These are the ranks established so far and the points needed to belong to each one:

• Apprentice: < 1400
• Guardian: 1401 - 1700
• Sorcerer: 1701 - 2000
• Strategist: 2001 - 2300
• Commander: 2301 - 2600
• Champion: 2601 - 2800
• Legend: > 2800

Inventory and Customization

Anichess offers a customizable experience, allowing players to personalize their playstyle through various themes.

The inventory consists of unlocked chessboards, backgrounds, chess sets, and spells. Here each player can mix and match different themes for chessboards, backgrounds, and sets to create a unique look for their matches.

In the future, Anichess will be adding more items to the inventory that can be fully unlocked and owned as NFTs.

To start playing, you can create an account using:

• Social login: Facebook, Gmail, Discord, or X. A non-custodial wallet is automatically generated to manage in-game assets.

• Web3 login: Compatible with Metamask, Rabby, and other wallets via WalletConnect. It's completely secure.
