Sparkball

Sparkball is a top-down perspective game where players control a hero on objective-based maps, similar to MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) games like League of Legends, DotA 2, or Heroes of the Storm. However, it distinguishes itself from these titles by using WASD controls for movement, the absence of minions, and the lack of lane-pushing modes, giving it a unique focus. Although Sparkball omits some traditional MOBA features like lanes and jungles, it retains key elements such as spells, items, and talents, creating a unique and dynamic gaming experience.

Game Mechanics

The main game mode of Sparkball is an innovative combination of Capture the Flag, FIFA, and brawler-style combat. In this mode, two teams of five players compete to capture a ball that appears in the center of the map and take it to the opposing team's goal to score. Although scoring is the main way to win, teams can choose different strategies, such as direct combat, taking secondary objectives, or making precise and well-coordinated passes.

How to Score?

The objective in Sparkball is to score by taking the ball to the opposing goal. The ball appears at the start of the match in the center of the map and can be picked up simply by passing over it. Round-based Format

Sparkball features a round-based format, where teams must reach a certain number of points to win the round. The match is best of three rounds, with a brief period of shopping and special unlocks between rounds to make each showdown unique.

Dribbling and Passing the Ball

While dribbling the ball, players gain access to new abilities specific to their hero, including the ability to pass it. There are two types of passes: direct and lob. The direct pass is charged by accumulating energy and travels along the ground in the selected direction. The lob pass is also charged, but can be directed to a specific area of the map. Balancing the speed and accuracy of these passes is essential to achieve good teamwork and score goals.

Power-ups

Sparkball incorporates power-ups throughout the map, similar to items in Super Smash Bros or the blue shell in Mario Kart. These power-ups can include items such as grappling guns, jump boots, or even a baseball bat, adding an unpredictable and exciting element to the game.

Heroes

As in any MOBA, heroes are crucial in Sparkball. Players can choose from a variety of heroes, each with unique abilities that complement the action-oriented gameplay and ball mechanics. The hero design in Sparkball offers a wide range of strategies and combinations, allowing players to discover interactions and complexities in each match.
