The open beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 ended on October 9, 2025, leaving a positive impression among players and raising expectations for its global launch on November 14.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, the new title combines tactical action, futuristic settings, and elements of modern Cold War.
During its testing phase, the development team received thousands of comments that will help fine-tune balance, performance, and progression before the official release.

A strong finish with remarkable numbers

The beta began on October 2 (for pre-orders and Game Pass subscribers) and opened to the public on October 5.
Initially scheduled to end on the 8th, it was extended for 24 more hours due to popular demand, finally closing on October 9 at 9:00 a.m. PT.

According to Activision data, the event recorded:

  • Over 12 million players across all platforms.
  • A 97% effectiveness rate for the Ricochet anti-cheat system, detecting cheaters in under 30 minutes.
  • Thousands of clips and X (Twitter) posts with Zombies strategies and comparisons to Battlefield 6, released on October 10.

The decision to extend the beta was described by Treyarch as a “direct response to community enthusiasm,” aiming to gather more data and stabilize servers before launch.

What the beta revealed: modes, maps, and impressions

During the seven-day test, players experienced three core pillars of the game:

  • Multiplayer: 16 maps (6v6) and 2 large-scale maps (20v20), featuring unified progression (XP shared) and the new tactical module Overclock.
  • Zombies Survival: Debut of the Vandorn Farm map, with customizable GobbleGums and cooperative rounds featuring the Exfil escape option.
  • Co-op Campaign: Limited internal testing, with positive feedback on movement fluidity and dynamic dialogue.

Official forums highlighted technical stability and weapon balance, though some PC users mentioned pending adjustments to aiming sensitivity and DirectX 12 performance.

Comparisons and expectations

With the recent release of Battlefield 6, many analysts see a new stage of direct competition between the two franchises.
While Battlefield focused on destructible environments, Call of Duty remains centered on smooth gameplay, unified progression, and cross-platform support.

On social media, the debate focuses on the future of SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking) and the testing of a ranked mode without hidden MMR, expected to arrive with the game’s first season.

What’s next: launch and first season

The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is confirmed for November 14, 2025, available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Battle.net and Steam), and Game Pass from day one.

A few days later, Season 06: The Haunting will begin — a Halloween-themed event featuring special rewards, cooperative challenges, and Monster Energy-inspired skins.

“We want this release to feel alive from day one, with events that bring the community together,” Treyarch stated in its official blog.

Available November 14, 2025 on all platforms.
