Things Subnautica 2 Doesn't Tell You – 8 Essential Tips

Although Subnautica 2 guides you quite well, there are several important details that can be easily overlooked.

1. How to find colonist bases and hideouts

Look for blue lamps and cables. These often lead to caves with hidden bases, Biobeds (for more inventory slots), and important logs.

2. Review Logs and PDA messages

Press Tab → Databases and Logs to reread everything. It's very useful when you miss messages during exploration.

3. Notes on tablets

When you approach colonists' tablets, the text appears automatically. They are not saved in the PDA, so read them when you find them.

4. How to fully refund your base

In the menu (ESC) select Refund Base. It returns all materials in beacons so you can rebuild from scratch.

5. Other oxygen sources

• Air pockets in caves
• Oxygen geysers (break the Bloom with the Multitool)
• Stranded air tanks near human bases

6. Reload batteries at any time

Press R to change the battery of your tool without opening the inventory.

7. Gateway Spires (alien rings)

When passing through the large coral rings in the Alien Ruins, your Tadpole receives a speed boost.

8. Save Troilite for Metal Farms

Troilite is very scarce. Once you unlock Metal Farms, use them to duplicate it instead of spending it all.
