Faith and Dexterity builds remain one of the most popular combinations among Elden Ring players. However, following the changes that have impacted some Fire Knight-focused setups and the continued evolution of the Shadow of the Erdtree meta, many players have started searching for alternatives capable of maintaining high damage output without relying exclusively on the strategies that dominated the expansion's early months.

Since the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, Fire Knight weapons and abilities quickly became a favorite choice for PvE content. Their combination of fire damage, Faith scaling, and powerful weapon skills allowed players to clear regular enemies with ease while performing exceptionally well against numerous bosses.

However, as new updates arrived and the community continued experimenting with different setups, some limitations became apparent. Many players encountered difficulties against enemies resistant to fire damage, while others began exploring hybrid builds that offered greater flexibility across different combat scenarios.
Although Fire Knight builds remain fully capable of clearing both the base game and the expansion, they no longer occupy the dominant position they held during the DLC's first months.
Currently, one of the most discussed builds within the community combines heavy investment in Faith with a substantial amount of Dexterity. The goal is to simultaneously maximize the effectiveness of fast melee weapons and powerful lightning-based Incantations.

For a character around level 150, the most balanced stat distribution typically includes 60 Vigor for survivability, 25 Mind for a comfortable FP pool, and 25 Endurance to maintain efficient equipment load management. On the offensive side, most players invest approximately 70 Faith and 45 Dexterity, allowing both weapons and Incantations to reach excellent levels of performance.
This combination currently offers one of the best balances between damage output, mobility, and versatility.
One of the cornerstones of this setup is the Spear of the Impaler, a weapon that has gained popularity thanks to its ability to benefit from both Faith and Dexterity scaling simultaneously.
Its greatest strength lies in its ability to deal substantial damage without forcing players to remain constantly in close-range combat. Its extended reach makes it easier to punish enemies from a relatively safe distance, while its unique weapon skill allows players to maintain pressure against mobile targets and groups of enemies.

Additionally, the weapon continues to perform exceptionally well against several of the most demanding bosses introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree, making it one of the strongest alternatives to traditional fire-focused builds.
Much of this build's strength comes from the lightning-based Incantations introduced and enhanced through the expansion.
Knight's Lightning Spear has become one of the most widely used offensive tools among Faith-focused players due to its combination of damage, casting speed, and FP efficiency. This makes it highly effective against both standard enemies and bosses.
Alongside it, classic buff Incantations remain essential even after multiple updates. Golden Vow continues to provide significant boosts to both damage and defense, while Flame, Grant Me Strength increases offensive potential and perfectly complements the aggressive nature of this setup.

When facing large enemies, Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike remains one of the game's most devastating damage options, particularly when multiple lightning strikes connect with the same target.
Together, these Incantations allow players to handle virtually any situation encountered in Elden Ring's endgame content.
To maximize performance, most players opt for a talisman setup focused on boosting both Incantations and weapon skills.
Flock's Canvas Talisman directly increases Incantation damage, while Godfrey Icon enhances charged spells and abilities.
Meanwhile, Lightning Scorpion Charm increases lightning damage, a crucial bonus for this build. Finally, Shard of Alexander remains one of the strongest choices for boosting weapon skill damage, including the powerful ability of the Spear of the Impaler.
The result is a setup capable of significantly increasing total damage output without sacrificing flexibility.
The Gravel Stone Seal continues to hold a privileged position among Faith builds focused on lightning damage. Its unique bonus to lightning-based Incantations allows players to maximize the effectiveness of abilities such as Knight's Lightning Spear and Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike.

For this reason, it remains the preferred seal for players looking to get the highest possible performance from this type of setup.
The answer depends largely on each player's preferred playstyle. Fire Knight builds are still capable of clearing all available content and continue to deliver competitive damage numbers.
However, the ongoing evolution of the meta has encouraged the rise of more balanced alternatives. Hybrid Faith and Dexterity builds centered around lightning damage stand out thanks to their adaptability against different enemy types, strong boss performance, and highly effective blend of melee combat and Incantation casting.
