In June 2025, MetaMask launched Embedded Wallets, a new tool that allows Web3 wallets to be integrated directly into games and applications without the need for extensions or seed phrases.
With social logins and support for NFTs and multiple networks, this solution aims to simplify access to the Web3 ecosystem, especially in the gaming sector. Developers and players can now connect to decentralized experiences more quickly and easily.
MetaMask is a wallet developed by Consensys that allows users to interact with blockchain networks such as Ethereum, Solana, Base, or Arbitrum. It is available as an app and browser extension and is used to manage cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and connect to dApps.
With over 100 million users, MetaMask introduced improvements in 2025 such as smart transactions and support for Solana. For many game developers, MetaMask is the main way to connect their players, although installing extensions or handling private keys can be a barrier for new users.
Launched on June 27, 2025, Embedded Wallets is a solution that allows developers to embed wallets directly into their games or apps. Users can sign in with accounts like Google or X and start playing without complex configurations.
The tool also offers secure authentication, NFT support, and is compatible with several blockchain networks. In addition, MetaMask Snaps (v119.0.0) improved NFT management, reinforcing the use of Embedded Wallets in gaming environments.
Embedded Wallets provides a simple way to integrate Web3 wallets into games without extensions, seed phrases, or pop-ups. Players can log in with accounts like Google or Apple ID, while the system creates a non-custodial wallet in the background.
Developers can manage everything from the MetaMask dashboard, selecting compatible networks, login methods, and features like smart accounts or permission flows. There's no need for extra accounts or complex code.
This allows for secure, connected, and more accessible Web3 experiences without increasing the technical load for development teams.
Despite its proposal, Embedded Wallets is not free of challenges. Security is a key issue: more than 500 Web3 hacks per day were reported in 2025. MetaMask includes protections like LavaMoat and MEV defense, but exposure remains a risk.
There is also competition, such as Best Wallet, offering similar solutions. And although the integration is simple, some developers still need to adapt to these new tools.
MetaMask plans to expand Embedded Wallets to more networks and add features like airdrop support and batch transactions. With the growth of Web3 gaming, its adoption could become a standard in dApp development.
