Arbitrum Foundation has designed a space for the community to take an active role in building the ecosystem: the Arbitrum Ambassador Program. This initiative aims for Web3 and Layer 2 technology enthusiasts to become local representatives, creating content, organizing events, and bringing the network closer to new audiences.

After an initial stage focused on universities, the program now enters its Phase 2, with a broader reach and presence in new regions.

From Phase 1 to Phase 2: a necessary growth

The program began in 2023 with a strong educational component. The first phase was primarily aimed at students and university blockchain clubs, with the goal of creating learning spaces and initial community gatherings.

The results were significant:

  • More than 3,000 applications received worldwide.
  • 160 ambassadors selected across 36 countries.
  • Over 30 in-person events including workshops and hackathons.
  • More than 100 pieces of educational content created by the community.

This success highlighted the global interest in Arbitrum, but also revealed a limitation: the program was concentrated within university environments. Phase 2 emerges, therefore, as an evolution to include more profiles and extend its impact beyond classrooms.

Phase 2: objectives and operation

Launched in June 2024, the second phase opens the door to technical and non-technical contributors interested in supporting the ecosystem.

Participants can take on different roles:

  • Content creators: social media posts, technical tutorials, or educational materials.
  • Community builders: organization of virtual events, workshops, and in-person meetups.
  • Mixed profiles: a combination of both functions depending on each region’s needs.

In this way, ambassadors become a direct link between the community and the Arbitrum Foundation.

Regions and program expansion

At its launch, Phase 2 was available for India, Nigeria, and Mexico. Over the months, Korea and Brazil were added, and there are plans to also reach China and the Philippines.

The numbers reflect its impact:

  • Since August 2024, nearly 1,200 content pieces have been created.
  • The estimated reach exceeds 122 million people on social media.
  • Grants for content in Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean have been implemented.

Highlighted activities

The program has been present in several international events, such as:

  • Hackathon in Bogotá, Colombia.
  • LionHack 2023 in New York.
  • Arbitrum Day in Paris.
  • Cornell Blockchain Conference on Roosevelt Island, New York.

In addition, ambassadors have access to the Ambassador’s Corner, where their best creations are showcased for the whole community.

Benefits of participation

Becoming an Arbitrum ambassador provides access to unique opportunities:

  • Officially represent the network in your local community.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem protocols.
  • Expand professional networks and strengthen personal portfolios.
  • Access training on scaling and Layer 2 technologies.
  • Contribute to research and community proposals.
  • Receive support for events or content creation.
