Castlevania Turns 40: Free Games, Sales & New Belmont's Curse

Castlevania is celebrating four decades since the release of its first installment with a series of special activities for its fans. Konami has prepared promotions, music, a free mobile game, and a new title arriving in October.

The celebration coincides with the 40th anniversary of the franchise, whose first game originally debuted in Japan in 1986 for the Family Computer Disk System.

The Original Castlevania Is Free on Mobile

As part of the celebrations, Konami has temporarily made the original Castlevania available to players on mobile devices.

The game can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android until October 24, 2026. The adventure allows players to control Simon Belmont once again in his clash against Dracula.

Furthermore, there is a key detail for those who take advantage of the promotion: anyone who downloads the game during the established period will be able to keep playing after the offer ends.

The mobile version adapts the classic experience to touch controls, allowing players to enjoy one of the franchise's first adventures directly from a phone.

Castlevania Has Discounts of Up to 80%

The festivities also include a series of sales for those looking to pick up some of the franchise's classic games.

On PlayStation, promotions are available from September 23 to October 7, with discounts reaching up to 80%.

Included titles are:

• Castlevania Anniversary Collection — 80% off.
• Castlevania Dominus Collection — 50% off.
• Castlevania Advance Collection — 70% off.
• Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood — 70% off.

On Steam, discounts of up to 80% are also available, including titles such as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Lords of Shadow 2, Revelations, and Mirror of Fate HD.

Promotion dates and availability may vary depending on the platform and region.

The Celebration Will Also Hit the Stage

Music is one of Castlevania's most recognizable elements, and Konami also wants to celebrate the anniversary with a special show.

The company announced Castlevania 40th Anniversary An Orchestral Concert, a series of concerts that will take place during Spring 2027.

The events are planned for Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles, although specific dates have not yet been announced.

The musical celebration will also hit streaming services. Starting September 26, 2026, a selection of music from the franchise included in Music from Castlevania – Black & Red will begin arriving on select platforms.

Belmont's Curse Will Be the Franchise's New Game

But the celebration isn't limited to old games. Konami is also preparing a new title for the franchise.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse will arrive on October 15, 2026 on:

• Steam
• Nintendo Switch

The project is developed by KONAMI and Evil Empire, with Motion Twin participating as an advisor. Evil Empire is known for its work on Dead Cells, while Motion Twin was the studio behind that title.

A New Belmont Arrives in Paris

Belmont's Curse will be set in Paris in 1499, several years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.

The protagonist will be Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, who must face various supernatural creatures while trying to uncover what is happening in the city.

As expected, Rose will wield the legendary Vampire Killer, although she will also be able to use other weapons and abilities throughout her adventure.

The game relies on 2D action and exploration, bringing back several elements associated with classic Castlevania installments.

The English voice cast includes Abby Trott as Rose Belmont and Graham McTavish as Dracula. Also featured are Liam O'Brien as Isaac, Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha, and Aaron LaPlante as Death.

There Will Also Be a Demo Before Launch

Players who want to try Belmont's Curse before its release will have to wait until October 1, the date scheduled for the arrival of a free demo.

This way, it will be possible to try part of the new adventure before the full game hits stores on October 15.
