The second season of Arcane, the animated production by Riot Games and Fortiche distributed by Netflix, won the award for Outstanding Animated Program at the 77th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. With this recognition, the series repeats the success achieved in 2022, consolidating itself as one of the most prominent works in contemporary television animation.

Awards Received

In addition to the main award, Arcane also won three more technical and artistic honors. The first was for Sound Editing in an Animated Program, granted to the team composed of Brad Beaumont, Eliot Connors, Stephen P. Robinson, Janet Pascual, Dan O’Connell, and John T. Cucci.

The season’s visual work was also recognized: Bruno Couchinho received an Emmy for background design in the episode “The Dirt Under Your Nails”, while Faustine Dumontier was awarded for her work in color and chromatic atmosphere in “The Message Hidden Within the Pattern”.

In total, the production collected four Emmy Awards, a reflection of work that blends storytelling, visual art, and technical quality in every detail.

Trajectory and Context

Since its premiere in 2021, Arcane has been recognized for its innovative aesthetic and storytelling. In 2022, it became the first streaming series to win the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, a milestone that was repeated in 2025 with its second season.

The production was conceived by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, developed by Fortiche Productions in collaboration with Riot Games, and distributed worldwide by Netflix.

Season two, released in November 2024, was planned from the beginning as the conclusion of the main storyline, focusing on the characters from Piltover and Zaun. Nevertheless, the creators have confirmed that the narrative universe will continue expanding through new productions set in other regions of Runeterra, such as Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia.

Significance of the Recognition

The double victory of Arcane in the most prestigious animation category not only confirms the quality of the series but also strengthens Netflix’s position in this field and highlights the relevance of League of Legends adaptations in the audiovisual landscape.

The combination of technical achievements and storytelling explains why the series has become a reference point for Western animation, setting a precedent for future productions that aim to transcend from the video game realm into television and film.
