Beginnings in the Web3 World

Originally from Mexico City and 38 years old, José Luis, better known as Cydrake, is one of the most representative members of the OLAGG community. Whether you have seen him as a speaker on the community server or giving lectures on his knowledge about a game with blockchain technology.

Cydrake began his journey into the Web3 world in search of additional income due to the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the entire world. During this period, his search led him to a group of investors where he later heard about a card duel game with chubby creatures fighting each other, Axie Infinity. This game would be the turning point for Cydrake to get interested in blockchain technology. By acquiring his own team, he officially started in Web3 games and, in turn, paved his way in YGG (Yield Guild Games).

YGG and OLAGG

While Cydrake was venturing into the Web3 world, a DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) called YGG began to open its doors to the Latin American public with Axie Infinity, thanks to a scholarship system where YGG connected Axie owners with people interested in playing the game but who could not afford to acquire a team. There was a problem: most Axie owners did not speak Spanish. This is where Cydrake comes in. Thanks to his knowledge of the English language, he served as a translator between Axie managers and Latin American scholarship recipients.

It could be said that Cydrake is a pioneer in OLAGG, as he witnessed the birth of this great community. While he continued to serve as a translator between managers and scholarship recipients, YGG began to expand more and more, and little by little, the foundations of what we know today as OLAGG were laid.

Once the OLAGG community was established, Cydrake became increasingly involved in the world of blockchain technology and everything it encompasses. He then made an important decision: to leave his traditional job as a systems engineer and fully dedicate himself to everything the Web3 field offers. This was significant as he had to break certain paradigms and transition from having a fixed salary to working based on projects, similar to a freelancer. However, this decision allowed our dear companion to open up to a totally new environment full of wonderful people from around the world, from Venezuela to Japan.

Where is Cydrake going?

Cydrake currently continues to participate in OLAGG as a content creator and intends to focus on this in the long term. With a growing YouTube channel, he seeks to share his knowledge and experience about blockchain.

Advice for those starting in blockchain

Lose the fear. The crypto world is an enormous environment where the reputation of failed projects overshadows all the good that is around. Learn, explore, and understand why so many people are studying blockchain technology and why it is considered the future in financial terms, loyalty programs, and generating more value for products and projects. Dare to learn, manage, and understand this technology that is here to stay.

Hobbies

Perhaps some are thinking at this point, well, we already know about his connection to the Web3 universe, but what about his daily life? Well, among Cy's hobbies are playing flag football, soccer, video games, and TCG (Trading Card Games). Also, of course, staying informed about blockchain technology.
