LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the new entry in the LEGO franchise inspired by the Batman universe. The game is developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Games.
Its proposal combines action, exploration, and the characteristic humor of the LEGO saga, with an original story that covers different stages of the character throughout his 86-year history in film, television, comics, and video games.

The main launch is scheduled for May 29, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The version for Nintendo Switch 2 will arrive later, with a date yet to be confirmed. Various retail listings suggest it could launch toward the end of 2026. There will be no version for the original Nintendo Switch, making it a Switch 2–exclusive title within Nintendo’s ecosystem.
Early communications indicated that the physical edition for Switch 2 would include the full game on the cartridge. Later, GameSpot clarified that it will be a Game Key Card, meaning a cartridge that contains a download key rather than the full game stored physically.
Even so, physical preorders remain available, and the title will feature a version optimized for Switch 2, designed to take advantage of the console’s new hardware.

Preorders are now open at retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart. All editions include the The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit as a preorder bonus.

The game offers an open world set in Gotham, featuring recognizable locations such as Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals, and Wayne Tower. Players can move around using the grappling hook, glide across the city, and drive various vehicles, including Batmobiles and Bat-cycles.
The combat system draws clear inspiration from the Arkham style, with more fluid combos, stealth mechanics, takedowns, and classic gadgets like the Batarang, Batclaw, and explosive gel.
Regarding characters, there will be seven main playable heroes: Batman, Gordon, Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul. Each character has unique abilities. Confirmed enemies include Joker, Penguin, Bane, Mr. Freeze, and Poison Ivy.

The game will include new difficulty modes, called Caped Crusader and Dark Knight, aimed at players seeking a greater challenge. There will also be local co-op for two players, with no online multiplayer or microtransactions.
Customization plays an important role, with an expanded Batcave, trophies, vehicle upgrades, and more than 100 suits inspired by different eras of Batman, from the Golden Age to more recent interpretations.

The game was officially revealed during Gamescom 2025, with its first trailer shown at Opening Night Live. Later, at The Game Awards 2025, a new trailer focused on heroes and villains was released, alongside the confirmation of the release date.
On social media and forums such as Reddit and X, many players have praised the combat system and open-world structure, comparing it to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Some criticism focuses on the lack of a version for the original Switch and the delayed release on Switch 2, attributed to the late availability of development kits.
