In RavenQuest, Renown is now the central variable that measures a player’s permanent progress: it doesn’t reset, accumulates over time, and unlocks access to rewards, status, and Fame/$QUEST multipliers. That’s why designing a clear strategy to accumulate Renown is vital for anyone aiming to compete on leaderboards or “collect” aesthetically.

What is Renown and how does it work?

Renown is a permanent measure of achievements and contributions in the RavenQuest world: it increases with progress, unlocked cosmetics, collections (RavenCards, journals), reputation, and certain NFTs (for example, Genesis Munk provides a bonus).

Moreover, Renown acts as a multiplier for daily Fame and impacts the distribution of $QUEST. Practical takeaway: accumulating Renown isn’t just about “showing off” cosmetics—it increases long-term earning potential of $QUEST and improves ranking in leaderboards that bring recognition and rewards.

Journals: the easiest way to earn Renown

One of the most accessible and consistent ways to gain Renown is completing achievements, especially journals. Each completed journal grants direct Renown, making achievements a high-ROI source for players who prioritize efficiency.

  • Why it’s efficient: journals usually require specific tasks (quests, enemies, gathering) that align with daily farming; they don’t rely on extreme randomness from chests.
  • How to leverage them: check the Achievements / Journals tab with Ctrl+J, mark the journals closest to completion, and plan game sessions focused on finishing them.
  • Pro tip: combine journal completion with material farming for cosmetics (killing mobs that drop both resources and journal progress). This way, a single session yields double: materials + Renown from journals.

Note: exact Renown values per journal may vary depending on the achievement; checking the in-game achievement list helps prioritize journals with the best return.

Cosmetics: the direct source of Renown

Cosmetics (outfits, weapon/head ornaments, etc.) are the most straightforward way to gain Renown. There are two main categories:

  • Farmables: obtained by exchanging materials gathered in the world (creature drops, fishing, gathering). They usually grant low-to-medium Renown values (e.g., 5, 15, 60…).
  • Premium/Paid: available through investment or events; these often feature more elaborate aesthetics and higher Renown values (250, 500).

Concrete examples (values and where to get them)

The cosmetics wiki lists items by weapon/slot and shows their Renown values and required materials. Representative examples:

  • Elven Haircut (Head, Bow) — requires Elven Hair ×35; grants 5 Renown. NPC: Boris the Barber (Ravencrest).
  • Curved Bow (Weapon, Bow) — requires Flexible Stick ×15; grants base value (farmable). NPC: Jordan the Carpenter.
  • Wanderer’s Veil (Head, Bow) — complex materials: Mark of Ghaz ×100, Infamous Doubloon ×500, Perfect Pearl ×500, Gold Dust ×3,500, Pristine Moa Feather ×5, Moving Eldritch Tentacle ×1; grants 500 Renown (high-value item). NPC: Alahad (Seabreeze).
  • Arcana Bow (Weapon, Bow) — very demanding materials (e.g., Intact Skull ×5,000, Crow’s Echo Crystal ×1,000); grants 500 Renown.

Materials and farming routes

Materials for cosmetics are obtained in specific map areas and from certain creatures. The RavenQuest wiki offers tables with each recipe and the NPC who exchanges the set for the cosmetic, allowing players to design efficient farming routes. Practical examples:

  • Elven Hair → drops from elves (Ravencrest and nearby areas).
  • Flexible Stick → drops from bears (forest beast zones).
  • Crow’s Echo Crystal → from Crowmaiden Hags (encounters in swamp/crowhollow zones).

Operational tip: select 2–3 target cosmetics and plan a focused route (zones + mobs + delivery NPC). Gathering materials in batches reduces downtime and travel.

Adornments: what they are and why they matter

Adornments are decorations that surround a player’s health/mana/aether bars; they act as performance badges tied to leaderboards and competitive metrics. Each leaderboard has its own adornments:

  • Legacy Leaderboard → Exalted Wings
  • Renown Leaderboard → Gilded Regalia
  • Arena MMR → Battleborn
  • Guild Wars MMR → Oathkeeper
  • Aether Rift wins → Riftpiercer
  • Expeditions wins → Dark Descent

Each adornment is awarded by rank (e.g., Top 1–10, 11–50, 51–250, etc.; the wiki details the ranges). Additionally, Cinderskull is the special adornment linked to Lucky Chest Season 2 and is the only adornment that also grants Renown.

Lucky Chests and their role in strategy

Lucky Chests are a direct source of cosmetics and therefore Renown: each reward from a chest includes a Renown value depending on the drop’s rarity. According to official Treasures Below update notes, the approximate breakdown per rarity is:

  • Rare → ~100 Renown
  • Arcane → ~250 Renown
  • Mythic → ~400 Renown
  • Legendary → ~500–1,000 Renown

There’s also a Lucky Chest Leaderboard rewarding those who open the most chests: top ranks receive exclusive rewards (e.g., Cinderskull Moa Armor for Top 1; Cinderskull Ship for Top 10; Cinderskull Wagon for Top 50). This makes mass opening a valid way to stack Renown and aim for exclusive adornments.

Practical warning: the cost (time or $QUEST spent to acquire chests) should be compared with other Renown sources; analyzing ROI based on the player’s economy is recommended.

Plan to reach 15,000 Renown

General strategy: combine high-value cosmetics (500 Renown), medium cosmetics, and Lucky Chests, adding adornments/leaderboards whenever possible.

Block A — “Fast” target with 500 Renown items:
If you get 30 cosmetics worth 500 Renown → 30 × 500 = 15,000 Renown.

Mixed alternative (more realistic):

  • 10 cosmetics × 500 = 5,000 Renown
  • 20 cosmetics × 250 = 5,000 Renown
  • 50 cosmetics × 100 = 5,000 Renown
    Total = 15,000 Renown

Operational route (how to execute):

  • Select 3 × 500 Renown cosmetics (e.g., Wanderer’s Veil, Arcana Bow, Relic of Light).
  • Farming plan by zones: group mobs that drop key materials and do 90–120 min loops.
  • Open Lucky Chests in a controlled way: allocate 20–30% of budget and prioritize event rolls.
  • Compete in leaderboards: alternate farming and competitive play to earn adornments.
  • Evaluate Patron: only activate if the UI confirms the Renown multiplier.

Estimated time: 1–2 high-value cosmetics per week + 1–2 chests → weeks to months depending on dedication.

Best practices and common mistakes

  • Don’t farm without a target: selecting sets avoids scatter.
  • Don’t neglect leaderboards: they offer indirect benefits.
  • Manage economy: compare ROI of chests/Patron.
  • Check patch notes: multipliers may change.

Extra: RavenIdle — open beta and timing

The developers announced the launch of an Open Beta / Playtest of RavenIdle as the final step before Season 1 release; the test is scheduled to begin on September 10, 2025.

The playtest aims to stress-test the new backend architecture capable of scaling to 100,000+ players, and while progress will be wiped, the experience gained will provide a strategic advantage for the official season.
