Minecraft Adds Official Cushions to Sit and Straw Beds – How They Work

Minecraft has finally added a highly requested feature by the community: official cushions to sit on. In addition, straw beds are introduced as a temporary rest option.

This novelty arrives with Java Edition Snapshot 26.3 and Bedrock Edition Preview 26.40.30, as part of the Dappled Drop update.

How Cushions Work

• They are crafted with 3 Wool Slabs of the same color.
• They can be placed on any flat surface (floor, stairs, blocks, etc.).
• They allow the player to sit naturally.
• They have no physical collision, making them easy to use in builds.

There are 16 colors available, allowing them to match any building style.

Advantages for players:

• Ideal for roleplay and decorations.
• Can be placed on stairs to create realistic chairs or armchairs.
• They are automatically destroyed if the supporting block is removed.

Straw Beds: Temporary Rest

Along with cushions, Mojang has added straw beds, designed for exploration and survival:

• They do not overwrite your main respawn point.
• Perfect for long expeditions.
• They will appear in the new Abandoned Camps.

These beds allow you to rest during the night without losing your base's spawn point.

Impact on the Community

After 17 years, Minecraft resolves one of the oldest memes in the community (using minecarts or signs to simulate seats). This update improves both gameplay and the creative possibilities for players.
